Create/Commission an Original Sculpture

Woodpecker photo used to create wildlife sculpture

Step 1 - Contact Virgil

Let's talk about your ideas for a sculpture.

My role is to be a good listener and help us determine if your vision and my sculpture style are a good fit.  I will also share my experience and ideas as it relates to your project.

Some of the things you can be thinking about are the approximate size, your price range, and how soon you need it.

 Please call/send me a text at 513-616-2211

 or /send an email.

Step 2 - Design

My sculptures typically have a main character and tell a story.   Your photographs, online images, memorabilia, even your sense of humor can help us create the sculpture and story.

I will guide you through the many factors that influence the final design including the style, complexity, size, materials used, and your plans for how and where it will be displayed.

My last thought on the design, is to give me as much flexibility as possible to be creative.

Step 3 - Construction

Constructing the sculpture is a multi-step process that includes researching the life history of the characters, purchasing/collecting materials, carving, molding, or casting the characters, building the background,  building or purchasing the base, sealing and priming all components, painting/applying patinas, applying final sealants, and assembling the sculpture.

Most small to medium size sculptures can be built within one to three weeks depending on the level of complexity.   Of course, the actual turn-around time depends on how many sculptures I am working

 on at that time.

Contract, Payment and Shipping

My goal is to collaborate with you to create a beautiful, unique, and original sculpture and for both of us to have a very positive experience.

To help achieve that goal, I use a basic contract that includes the proposed services, the cost and payment requirements, the completion date, and shipping or delivery information.

In most cases, a down payment of 20% will be required to begin the project and full payment will be required before delivery.
